WHAT ARE COLONICS?
Colonics, also known as colon hydrotherapy or colon irrigation, is a method of removing undigestable and unabsorbable food as well as cellular waste from the colon without the use of drugs or laxatives. By introducing filtered water into the colon, the waste is softened and loosened, resulting in evacuation through natural intestinal movement. This process is naturally repeated several times during the session.
IS COLON HYDROTHERAPY SAFE?
Yes! Your safety is of paramount importance. Modern equipment constantly maintains the water temperature and pressure within safe limits, and a new, single use, disposable speculum is used for each treatment. The client is free to get off the table whenever they choose.

The body may give us signs that all is not well by these “uncomfortable” symptoms…
- Constipation/Diarrhea
- Indigestion
- Headaches
- Abnormal Body Odor
- Abnormal Discomfort
- Candida Overgrowth
- Bad Breath
- Irritable Bowel

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF COLONICS?
Although limited medical research is available, our client testimonials include benefits to increased energy; weight loss; decreased allergies, chronic pain, headaches, gas, and bloating; and especially improvements for constipation with more regular bowel movements reported. Most clients report a general sense of wellbeing and an “empty” feeling in the abdominal area. *Individual results may vary.
WHAT IS A COLONIC SESSION LIKE?
A session is a comfortable experience for most people. The therapist however, if discomfort is experienced, the session can be stopped at any time. Techniques utilized allow a small amount of water to flow into the colon, stimulating the natural bowel movements. The removal of waste encourages better colon function and bowel movements.
HOW MANY COLONIC SESSIONS DOES A PERSON NEED?
Every person’s goals are different. Colonics can be used as part of any regular maintenance program. In my experience, Many Physicians will recommend 2 - 6 sessions when starting with this therapy.
IS THE STAFF AT A NATURAL CLEANSE CERTIFIED?
I am certified by the International Association for Colon Hydrotherapy (I-ACT) and Global Professional Association for Colon Hydrotherapy (GPACT) , as which assures the public that I am trained and competent in my profession.
WHAT TYPE OF EQUIPMENT IS USED?
We use Class II, FDA registered colonic equipment. We maintain the highest levels of sanitation as per the manufacturer. We use disposable speculums during every session.
ARE THERE CONTRAINDICATIONS?
Colonics cannot be administered under the following circumstances: abdominal hernia, abdominal surgery, acute liver failure, severe anemia, aneurysm, cancer, cardiac conditions, colitis, dialysis, diverticulosis, fissures, fistulas, hemorrhaging, hemorrhoidectomy, intestinal perforations, lupus, pregnancy, rectal/colon surgery and renal insufficiencies.
HOW CAN I PREPARE FOR MY COLONIC AT A NATURAL CLEANSE?
We recommend increasing raw fruits and vegetable intake for at least 2-3 days prior to your colonic.
WHEN SHOULD YOU STOP USING COLON HYDROTHERAPY?
When you stop eating….when you stop breathing… is a good time to take a break from colon cleansing.
WHEN IS MY COLON FULLY CLEANED OUT?
Chances are high that with every morsel you eat and every breath you take, waste will form in your digestive system. And while your body will purge the waste out of your system, there’s always some residue that remains. So, there’s a strong probability that there will always be some waste matter throughout the colon despite our best cleansing efforts. But, cleansing the colon periodically assists with maintaining as clean a colon as possible.
WHAT CAUSES CONSTIPATION?
Constipation is a common digestive problem characterized by infrequent or difficult bowel movements. Constipation occurs when the colon absorbs too much water from the food moving through it while it is forming waste products, or stool. It also occurs when slow muscle contractions in the colon result in the stool becoming solid and hard to eliminate. Constipation may be caused by several factors among which are low-fiber diets, inactivity, pregnancy, laxative abuse, dehydration, and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
WHY SHOULD I CONSIDER COLON HYDROTHERAPY TO RELIEVE CONSTIPATION?
Gentle and natural, colon hydrotherapy introduces purified water into the colon to cleanse it and relieve discomfort. Rather than involving only the rectum, as an enema does, colon hydrotherapy can cleanse and soothe the entire colon. It relieves constipation without subjecting the body to chemical laxatives by flushing away impacted food wastes with sterilized, body-temperature water. Some colon hydrotherapists may enhance the cleansing action of the fluid by gently massaging the patient’s abdomen during the procedure. Some people may opt to use an herbal preparation prior to their colon cleansing session. Colon hydrotherapy, when practiced by a licensed practitioner, is safe, effective, and painless. The therapist may offer to provide relaxing music or even reading material during the procedure.
SHOULD I SEE MY DOCTOR BEFORE MY FIRST COLON HYDROTHERAPY SESSION?
If you have a concern about your health or the appropriateness of colon hydrotherapy you should always consult a doctor, as I do not diagnose, treat, or prescribe. If you are pregnant or have heart disease, you are NOT a candidate for a colonic.
IS BACTERIAL OR VIRAL CONTAMINATION POSSIBLE FROM THE COLON HYDROTHERAPY EQUIPMENT?
No. All equipment is pre-sterilized and disposable. These disposables are used only once during a single therapy session.
